A tangling tale…some hairstory if you will..

Daily writing prompt
What’s the oldest thing you own that you still use daily?

When I first looked at this question, I originally thought : “Ok – my brain or my hands etc…” however I’ve decided I want to talk about something that is pretty dear to me!

My tangle teezer!

I have very thick and unruly hair. Going to the hairdresser to get my hair coloured is a half-day ordeal. It’s a test of patience that I can sit still for 4 hours while aluminium foils are carefully folded into my hair.

I don’t trust just “anyone” with my hair. It was always a nightmare making a hairdresser’s appointment as they would always underestimate how long it would take to do my hair. Once I had a team of 3 people trying to dry it in time.

As a kid, I hated having my hair brushed by my mum. It was painful; the brush would get caught in the tangles. One time the brush handle came off in my hair. My mum eventually gave up and sent me to a hairdresser who proceeded to butcher my head. The next day at school was mortifying and I hate looking at those photos.

In 2007 I was at the hairdressers and she told me that she wanted to try a new brush on my hair. The “tangle teezer” And tease my tangles it did!

It was a revolution! The brush went through my hair with ease! I sat there absolutely stunned at the pain-free experience. (It was short-lived. Back in the day they used to use a cap to do highlights. Getting your hair pulled through tiny little holes….not fun).

I immediately went and bought one – and I still use it today.
