Lesson 59: Get out of my bedroom

Dear Readers,

How are you? I’m recovering from a weekend in Paris—the city, not the…well, you know—and honestly, it was pretty tiring.

We visited Disneyland on Friday, and while it was a bit stressful, it was absolutely amazing to see the huge smile on my nephew’s face when he caught a glimpse of the massive Lightning McQueen statue!

On Saturday, I enjoyed the Eurovision Song Contest. I am super excited that Switzerland won and Nemo delivered a stunning performance. They really made Switzerland proud!

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been actively trying to reduce my phone usage. It’s not easy, as most of my life is on my phone, but I’ve picked up a lesson that really helps me stop reaching for my phone in the morning.

In the morning, when I wake up, I love to just relax under the covers.

Imagine you’re doing this, and suddenly the door opens and about 30 people barge in.

😡 Your manager asking about your latest project

😡 A female influencer screaming about the only shoes you’ll need to buy

😡 A conspirator shouting about how the Eurovision was fixed

😡 An angry man denouncing a recent change proposed to the city

😡 Your mother asking you to book a hotel for her

😡 A person offering you a job if you’re under 35 and want to earn 100 CHF a day

😡 Someone throwing cheap products in your face

This is what happens when you open your phone. You invite these people into your bedroom, your bed, and your mind.

Honestly, this is not how I want to wake up in the morning.

So whenever I’m tempted, I think about this visualization, and it stops me from opening my phone.

Give it a try!

Thanks for reading!
