Different beats for different feats…

Daily writing prompt
What do you listen to while you work?

Like music, the word “work” has different genres, and each genre is accompanied by different types of music.

Focus Work

Focus work for me includes tasks such as: editing videos, writing blog posts or planning lessons. This is where I need to be really in the zone and free of distractions.

For this type of work I use the app “Endel” and put on some Binaural beats with a pulsing undertone. This helps me get into a state of flow.

House Work

When I need to do chores – such as washing dishes or sorting out stuff – then I will listen to a podcast. This is the only time where I can focus on a podcast. I can’t listen to them anywhere else!

Body Work – aka Work Out

When I’m at the gym, I listen to rock music to get into the mood. This gives me the strength to do strength work.

However, most of my exercise is done on a Peloton bike, so I’ll generally go for 80s music or classic rock playlists.

I’m very lucky to be self-employed and not have to work in an office. There is one sound which I cannot listen to while working – and that is whistling.

As soon as someone starts whistling – I get angry!
